2012 Chevy Avalanche vs. 2012 Toyota Tundra

Today's comparison of Chevy vehicles vs. the competition looks at the 2012 Chevy Avalanche and how it stacks up against the 2012 Toyota Tundra. We'll give you a hint. Which of the two vehicles can transform from an SUV to a pickup in less than a minute? That would be the 2012 Avalanche. We gave away the winner between these two vehicles early, but lets take a closer look at how the Avalanche tops the Tundra.

Just because we are dealing with trucks doesn't mean there is nothing positive to say about fuel economy. The 2012 Avalanche offers better city and highway gas mileage than the Tundra. Combine that with the larger gas tank and you have a recipe for some serious cruising range, in fact you have a cruising range that is very close to 100 more miles in the city and over 100 more miles of cruising range on the highway than the 2012 Tundra. Everyone hates fueling up at the station. Avoid it more with the 2012 Chevy Avalanche.

When we look at the comfort levels between the 2012 Avalanche and the 2012 Tundra it is clear that your passengers will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Avalanche. While both vehicles offer seating capacity for up to 6 people, the question now becomes where are they going to put all of their stuff? When it comes to trunk size, the Avalanche has you covered. It has the largest trunk in the industry which means storage capacity galore for you and your family and friends.

In terms of horsepower and torque both vehicles do a sufficient job. The 2012 Avalanche offers up to 8,100 lbs of towing capacity. The coil-sprung suspension on the Avalanche means that you can haul large items such as a boat without sacrificing any ride quality. That being said, there isn't a whole lot of difference between the Tundra and the Avalanche in powertrain.

Although the 2012 Avalanche does come with a higher price tag, you are paying for higher quality, a more stylish appearance, and you are paying for the only vehicle on the market that is really two-in-one since it can flip back and forth between an SUV and a pickup. The technology, the safety features, it's all there with the 2012 Chevy Avalanche. Head to http://www.chevrolet.com/avalanche-suv-truck/ for a more in-depth breakdown.
